Terms of Service

1. What CiteFinder does

CiteFinder sends buyer-style questions to third-party AI engines, analyzes their answers, and reports whether and how a brand is mentioned, ranked and cited. It also checks a website for signals that affect how AI engines read it, and suggests improvements.

2. AI results are estimates

AI engines change their answers over time, between users and from one request to the next. Our scores and reports describe the answers we received at the time of the scan. They are not a guarantee of what any individual will see, and following our recommendations does not guarantee that any AI engine will mention, rank or cite your brand.

CiteFinder is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Perplexity or any other AI provider. Their names are used only to describe which engines we query.

3. Your account

You must give a valid email address and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

4. Subscriptions and billing

• Paid plans are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically until you cancel.
• You can cancel at any time from the Billing page. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, and you will not be charged again.
• Fees already paid are not refunded for partial months, except where the law requires a refund.
• Payments are processed by Stripe, which may act as the merchant of record and collect applicable sales tax or VAT.
• We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. The new price applies from your next billing period after the notice.

5. Free scans

Free scans are limited in number and scope and may change or end at any time. Do not use automated means to run free scans or to get around their limits.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use CiteFinder for anything unlawful, or to harass, defame or mislead anyone;
• attempt to break, overload, reverse engineer or gain unauthorized access to the service;
• resell or redistribute the service itself without our written permission (Agency plan customers may share reports with their own clients);
• enter information you have no right to use.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

7. Content and ownership

You own the brand information you enter. You give us permission to use it to run the service, including sending it to the AI providers listed in our Privacy Policy. We own the CiteFinder software, design and scoring methods. Reports we generate for you are yours to use for your business.

8. Disclaimers

CiteFinder is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that third-party AI engines will remain available.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to CiteFinder is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

10. Ending the agreement

You can stop using CiteFinder and cancel at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or if we discontinue the service; if we discontinue a paid service, we will refund any prepaid fees for the unused period.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, and both parties consent to their jurisdiction.

12. Changes and contact

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will notify account holders by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use CiteFinder after that means you accept the updated terms. Questions: support@citefinder.xyz.
